Facial Reflexology
What is Facial Reflexology?
Facial Reflexology shares the same principles as hand and foot Reflexology, with the theory that areas of your face are connected to different parts of your body via energy channels and the nervous system. A range of massage movements and therapeutic Reflexology techniques are used to calm, relax, and gently stimulate reflexes on the face to promote the body's natural healing process, improve circulation and nerve supply as well as enabling the body to release toxins. Treatments also stimulate collagen and elastin from the inside which gives the effect of tighter, plumper skin.
What are the benefits of Facial Reflexology?
The benefits of Facial Reflexology are similar to those of any other Reflexology treatment, meaning that Facial Reflexology can induce a deep state of relaxation, improve sleep, provide relief from tension, anxiety and stress, boost energy levels and give an improved sense of general well-being.
It also has the wonderful advantage of including a deeply soothing facial massage which works to release tension within the facial muscles and connective tissue, this stimulates blood flow and allows drainage of the lymphatic system, giving the complexion a younger, radiant glow as well as improving skin texture and tone over a series of treatments.
Facial reflexology is a safe and gentle holistic treatment, suitable for all ages and physical conditions.
The Treatment
The first treatment begins with a short consultation about your health and lifestyle. You will then be made comfortable, lying fully clothed, on a warm couch. For comfort, it is advisable to wear loose clothing, ideally without high necks or collars and it is recommended not to wear make-up.
Your face is cleansed using gentle facial wipes, and then natural pre-blended facial oil is lightly applied to the skin. The oil used enhances the experience of the treatment, as it comes with added benefits such as the ability to nourish and revitalise the skin. During the treatment the practitioner will apply gentle pressure on different reflex points and will also use a range of massage techniques on the face. You should find this experience deeply relaxing and you may even drop off to sleep.
Your first session will last about 50 minutes, allowing time for the consultation and for you to enjoy the treatment without feeling rushed; subsequent treatments will last about 40 minutes.
